Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Cognitive Modeling (PhD University Grad)

Research | Redmond, Washington

Oculus Research is building on our expertise in virtual reality systems to begin the development of augmented reality (AR). This moves us from a technology whose primary application has been in games and entertainment to one that could become the primary device for computation, communication and work as well as entertainment. We are currently seeking an innovative post-doctoral researcher to develop, test and apply computation models from cognitive science with a focus on the development of AR systems. As a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in Cognitive Science at Oculus Research in Redmond WA, you would focus on developing and testing computational models that integrate our knowledge of perceptual-motor control, memory, learning, attention, and decision making. Our research involves both fundamental research on perception and cognition and how specific engineering choices will impact the user experience. Researchers will have opportunities to collaborate with academic institutions and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Projects take advantage of internal resources in mechanical, electrical, optical, and software engineering, allowing us to confront scientific questions which cannot be addressed with existing equipment.
