Compute Silicon Design Engineer (PhD University Grad)

Research | Redmond, Washington

As a Compute Silicon Design Engineer at Oculus, you will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers and use your digital architecture, math and analytical skills to map state of the art computer vision, sensing and machine learning algorithms into low power dedicated HW IP. You will also support the Digital Silicon Architects developing and implementing the next generation custom and semi-custom mixed signal ICs to drive our industry leading augment reality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with technology researchers to map state of the art floating point algorithms into reduced precision and fixed point HW equivalents for low power ASIC implementation
  • Evaluate and produce detailed reports for architectural tradeoffs such as speed, performance, power, area
  • Develop FPGA/RTL prototype implementing such algorithms for real time evaluation or silicon integration
  • Support Silicon Architects with integration, documentation and implementation
  • Write detailed documents and bit accurate C models matching the proposed ASIC implementation
  • Produce detailed tradeoff analyses for executive review and product roadmap decisions

Minimum Qualification

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Masters or PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of electrical engineering, computer science or similar
  • Experience with evaluating architectural tradeoffs such as speed, performance, power, area
  • 3+ years of experience as a Digital Design Engineer
  • C or C++ development experience, including floating point and bit accurate modeling
  • Experience in top down high-level-model to HW mapping
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
