Environment Health and Safety Lead

Oculus Research is seeking an Environment Health Safety Lead with a passion for constant improvement of safety in a fast-paced environment. The EHS Lead at Redmond Research facilities provides management oversight for growing Oculus Research labs operations. The EHS Lead is responsible for implementing and developing EHS procedures for Redmond. This position serves as laser safety, chemical safety, and laboratory expert for all EHS matters. The EHS lead partners with site leaders, lab managers, and operations support functions to implement, execute and sustain company EHS policies, standards, programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, federal EHS regulations and consensus standards. The EHS Lead is accountable for implementation and execution of site level compliance, risk analysis, continuous improvement projects and managing incident investigation and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee EHS Specialist (s) daily functions
  • Develop and implement company procedures and site specific safe operating procedures for equipment and processes
  • Provide EHS support and technical guidance for new and existing processes and tasks including chemicals, equipment, and layouts
  • Perform EHS compliance applicability reviews and EHS risk assessments
  • Maintain documentation for EHS compliance at each location
  • Oversee or act as Laser Safety Officer including the evaluation and auditing of high powered laser systems in R&D Setting
  • Oversee or serve as Chemical Hygiene Officer for site
  • Develop written EHS programs, procedures and training to support Oculus facilities including local jurisdiction requirements
  • Conduct training sessions on applicable EHS topics including but not limited waste management, chemical safety, lasers, robotics, risk assessments
  • Conduct frequent site inspections to review EHS management gaps, develop corrective actions and implement solutions to sustain compliance with EHS regulations.
  • Support Oculus EHS teams on special projects

Minimum Qualification

  • Laser Safety Officer, Certified or ability to obtain certification
  • BS Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Chemistry, Health Physics or related field
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and leadership
  • Communication skills
  • Minimum seven years of experience overseeing EHS responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as Chemical Hygiene Officer
  • Master’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Health Physics or related field
  • Experience with Robotics risk assessments
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional
  • Experience with Washington Department of Ecology and Labor and Industry Regulations
  • Experience in reviewing and assessing new equipment, building designs and construction
  • Prior work in semi-conductor, equipment development or laboratory environment
