The mission of the Oculus Hardware Engineering team is to develop and launch world-class hardware that enables next-generation experiences.  We work closely with a wide array of creative, technical and operations partners as we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We are technological vanguards of the Virtual, Mixed, and Augmented Reality era.

Oculus is looking for an experienced and highly self-motivated display development engineer.  This engineer will focus on development of new displays that meet the demanding needs of VR applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of the display design team to specify and realize new display technology for VR applications
  • Work closely with display panel and module vendors throughout the design, sample and engineering validation phases
  • Work closely with display panel and module vendors to develop and implement new processes that enable display VR displays
  • Ensure the technical performance of completed displays
  • Identify, develop, and utilize new vendors and technology for display processes

Minimum Qualification

  • Prior hands-on experience in at least one of the focus areas:
    • LTPS backplane design
    • LTPS manufacturing
    • Driver IC design and development
    • Display system development
  • Prior experience with the following focus areas:
    • Display calibration, control and tuning
    • Display driver operation, control and tuning
    • Display panel metrology
    • Equipment design and manufacturing for display
    • Organic emitter material design and manufacturing
    • Organic emitter patterning processes
    • AMOLED panel glass processes and manufacturing
    • Display module assembly processes and manufacturing
  • Experience with illumination design programs, such as LightTools, FRED, TracePro, Zemax, or ASAP
  • Communication Skills
  • Prior experience working in a cross-functional team based environment
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 25% of the time)
  • PhD or MS in Display Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, Physics or related field with 5+ years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working at a startup
