Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Epitaxial and Nanofabrication

We are currently seeking a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in growth techniques relating to epitaxial films, and nano-fabrication technology to work closely with our team of research staff developing novel near-eye display technology. Candidates must possess a fundamental understanding of epitaxial growth techniques (MOCVD, MBE, HVPE), material design with a focus on optical properties. Specifically, candidates should have experience in epitaxial process development, and knowledge in the associated metrology and analytic techniques. Candidates with experience in emissive display technology and nano-fabrication are encouraged. The position is a fixed-term (postdoctoral) contract for 24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and grow novel epitaxial films
  • Support the optics team in fabrication of new structures and advise the broad research teams in the area of epitaxial materials
  • Work closely with the research staff, and lab technicians to execute experimental designs
  • Build collaborative relationships both internally and externally to support research initiatives

Minimum Qualification

  • PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar fields with a focus on materials development and characterization, or on nano-fabrication
  • Track record in epitaxial growth fabrication
  • Knowledge of material design
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Graduating with a PhD, or completing a university postdoctoral assignment, during 2017
  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US for a two-year period beginning in 2017

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in optical and materials characterization
  • Experience with achieving significant results, including, first-authored journal publications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Proven track record of achieving academic results
