Pixel Design Engineer

Oculus is a world leader in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) Pixel Engineer at our research location in Redmond, WA. The successful candidate will be part of the sensor team innovating, developing and integrating hardware and software for future generations of HMD devices.


  • Collaborate closely with internal and external design team, computer vision scientists, optical experts and system architects to develop next generation sensor technologies
  • Responsible for sensor pixel architecture, design, simulation, and implementation
  • Responsible for pixel test and characterization, device model calibration, and pixel design iteration
  • Working closely with external foundry partners, responsible for foundry technology evaluation, process simulation and fabrication recipe recommendation
  • Participate in new sensor and detector technology evaluation, technology roadmap study

Minimum Qualification

  • PhD and/or Masters degree in electrical engineering or computer science
  • 4+ years experience with image sensor developments in industrial or academic research
  • Knowledge in semiconductor fabrication and device physics
  • Knowledge in sensor operation, architecture, quality matrix, noise, and imaging system integration
  • Knowledge in optics, radiometry, photometry, and quantum optics
  • 2+ years experience with TCAD simulation tools, EDA layout and spice simulation tools
  • 2+ years experience with image sensor test setup, characterization and data extraction
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2017
