Compute Silicon Architect

Hardware Engineering | Menlo Park, California

As a Compute Silicon Architect at Oculus you will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers and use your digital architecture, math and analytical skills mapping state of the art vision and sensing algorithms into low power DSP FW and dedicated HW IP. You will also support the Digital Silicon Architects developing and implementing the next generation custom and semi-custom mixed signal ICs to drive our industry leading virtual reality systems.

  • Work with advanced technology researchers mapping state of the art double precision floating point algorithms into single precision and fixed point HW/FW equivalents for low power ASIC implementation
  • Evaluate and produce detailed reports for architectural tradeoffs such as speed, performance, power, area
  • Support FPGA/RTL engineers implementing such algorithms for real time evaluation or silicon integration
  • Support Silicon Architects with integration, documentation and implementation
  • Write detailed documents and bit accurate C models matching the proposed ASIC implementation
  • Produce detailed tradeoff analyses for executive review and product roadmap decisions

Minimum Qualification

  • 3+ years of experience as a Digital Design Engineer
  • 3+ years of experience as a Silicon Architect, µArchitect
  • Experience in top down high-level-model to HW mapping
  • C or C++ development experience, including double precision floating point and bit accurate modeling
  • Experience with evaluating architectural tradeoffs such as speed, performance, power, area
  • Experience with DSP coding and optimization
  • Experience with OpenGL, OpenVx, Cuda and high performance graphics pipelines
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • MSEE/CS or equivalent experience in relevant areas
