We wanted to share a quick update on what we’ve been up to:
We finally moved into our new office in Irvine, CA with more space for the ever-growing team. We’re still getting setup, but the office is coming together nicely, with a full hardware lab, 3D printing room, even a small mo-cap VR space for testing and calibration of tracking hardware.
We’re putting the finishing touches on the tooling for the first version of developer kits now, trying to squeeze in a few key features without delaying, but time is against us. We want to nail down every last detail before announcing anything.
We can’t show any of the SLAs quite yet (they’d give away a few secrets), but here’s a sample of our progress:
Early working prototypes of the new Oculus VR™ sensor you may have heard rumors about:
Early 3D model of the developer kit:
Early samples of the Kickstarter t-shirts for testing comfort and feel (not color schemes):

Palmer will be keynoting the Evolve conference in December. “Virtual Reality: The Holy Grail of Gaming”, will focus on where virtual reality technology is going and how it’s advances might impact the game industry.
GameIndustry.biz ran an article naming Oculus one of the top 5 “Best Bets in Gaming”. It’s incredible to be listed among industry leaders including Microsoft, EA, Epic Games, and Valve. We wouldn’t be anywhere without your support. You can read the whole article here: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-10-04-roundtable-our-best-bets-in-gaming
We had the legendary Chris Roberts, creator of Wing Commander, by the office to swap tech demos. He showed us a stunning demo for his upcoming game, Star Citizen, which is slated to be Oculus VR™-ready with incredibly intense space dog-fighting. If you haven’t heard about Star Citizen yet, be sure to check out their Kickstarter here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cig/star-citizen
Back to work
Thanks for all your support and patience. We’ll let everyone know as soon as more of our details (and surprises) are fully-confirmed. Stay tuned!
